We are glad to release this True Audiophile: The Best Of Groove Note, Volume 2 after the success of True Audiophile – The Best Of Groove Note Volume 1, Groove Note presents another audiophile collection of their talented artists in DSD! Just like the original True Audiophile album, Volume 2 features some of the best cuts from a world renowned music label, Groove Note!

All 14 tracks are from the Original Direct-to-DSD or the Original Analog-to-DSD recordings. The album features the vocals of Diana Krall.

The album highlights include: The intimate, delicate, sweet and tender voice of Jacintha; Roy Gaines, the greatest living blues guitarist that you probably don’t know anything about, a sizzling blues guitarist with one of the most magnificent blues voices around; Eden Atwood, who has a voice that is many things – seductive, plaintive, sensitive, gifted with perfect intonation and phrasing, and entertaining; Touring as the guitarist for Diana Krall, Anthony Wilson is one of the most brilliant musicians working in the U.S. jazz scene; Bill Cunliffe is a leading West Coast jazz pianist with several albums to his credit; With a sensual and seductive voice right out of the ’40s or ’50s, Luqman Hamza (pronounced Luke-mahn Hahm-za) is a real discovery; And rounding out this already impressive list, tenor saxophonist extraordinaire Bennie Wallace!

Notes

We are pleased to announce the availability of Groove Note releases in DSD 128 and DSD 256, in addition to the original DSD 64 releases. These higher bit rate DSD 128 and DSD 256 releases are all pure DSD created.

They are not up samplings, for there are no PCM or DXD conversions involved in their production. They are re-modulations of the original DSD 64 encoding modulation that produced the DSD 64 releases. The sonic advantage to these new Stereo and Multichannel DSD 128 and DSD 256 releases, as with all higher DSD bit rate releases, is the wider frequency passband prior to the onset of modulation noise. This results in the listener's DAC using gentler and more phase linear filters for playback of the music.

Press reviews

All Music 4 out of 5

Groove Note Records began releasing jazz and blues recordings in 2005. They’ve also expanded their vision and have begun to re-release rare tracks by vintage artists and look to genre-bending vocalists in order to showcase excellent music coming from the jazz and blues traditions.

True Audiophile, Volume 2 is the second sampler of the label’s wares. It contains tracks by many of their artists, such as soul-jazz guitarist Anthony Wilson, gorgeous ballads and standards by Jacintha, blues by none other than Jay McShann, modern-day samba by Eden Atwood, and some beautiful straight-ahead work by saxophonist Bennie Wallace to mention a few.

In addition to the excellent performances, Groove Note is an audiophile label with the highest production standards. Making this collection a second excellent introduction to the label.
