Angela Chun

The violin duo of Angela and Jennifer Chun is one of today’s most exciting string formations, noted for its synchronicity and fluidity. The sisters have appeared at international festivals (Mostly Mozart, Ravinia, Aspen, London Bach Festival) working with conductors Zubin Mehta, André Previn, Thomas Sanderling, Iván Fischer, Leonard Slatkin, and Peter Oundjian. The Duo has guest-performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, London Bach Ochestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Toronto Chamber Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Philharmonic, and at venues including Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall. The Duo’s keen interest in new music has led to collaborations with the composers György Kurtág, György Ligeti, Luciano Berio, Sebastian Currier, Kaija Saariaho, Philip Glass, Nico Muhly, and Isang Yun, whose music the Chuns have long championed. Grawemeyer Awardwinning composer George Tsontakis wrote Unforgettable for the Chuns: a double-violin concerto which they premiered in August 2009 to mark Aspen Music Festival’s 60th anniversary.
