Anthony studied piano performance and music composition at both the Moscow and Saint Petersburg conservatories in Russia under the tutelage of Naum Shtarkman, Elena Shishko, and Boris Tishchenko. Later, he studied in New York at the Mannes School of Music with the great American pianist, Richard Goode.

For 10 years, Anthony ran his own harpsichord workshop that built, sold, restored, and maintained harpsichords and other early keyboard instruments. Bonamici harpsichords are now owned by numerous professional institutions from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok. Interested in historic performance practice, Anthony has spent time studying harpsichord and fortepiano. He has translated several musicological essays from Russian to English for publication in Russia.
