Javier Jimenez

Javier Jiminez studied organ at the Professional Conservatory of Music “Ángel Barrios” in Granada with Juan María Pedrero. Earning the Higher Degree in organ at the Conservatory of Music “Joaquín Rodrigo” in Valencia, with Professor Carlos H. Paterson, with the highest qualifications. He is currently also receiving training in harpsichord and basso continuo with teachers Pilar Montoya and Jorge García.

He received complementary training in various masterclasses with internationally renowned teachers such as Hans Fagius, Ludger Lohmann, Montserrat Torrent, François Espinasse, Raúl Prieto, etc.

He has performed at concerts, both as a soloist and accompanist or in orchestral formations, in various cycles and festivals such as the Timorgelfest International Festival (Timisioara, Romania), the International Organ Cycle of the Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls (Rome, Italy), the International Organ Cycle of the Con-Cathedral of Castellón, the Cinco Villas Organ Festival (Aragon), the International Congress of Pueri-Cantores (Paris and Rome), International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada (FEX), International Cavaillé-Coll Cycle of Seville, International Organ Cycle Cathedral of León, Cabra Organ Cycle (Cordoba), International Organ Cycle of Panama, International Organ Cycle of Covadonga, International Organ Academy of Granada, Monastery of Escorial, Cathedral of Salamanca, International Organ Festival of Panama, Malaga International Cathedral Festival, etc.

He inaugurated the organ of the Cathedral of Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), this being the first organ concert in the African country.

He has collaborated with musical groups such as Schola Gregoriana Hispana, Illiber Ensemble, Mediterranean Chamber Orchestra, Classical Orchestra of Granada, Chamber Orchestra “Marquesado del Zenete” (of which he is founder and artistic director), etc.

He has directed and coordinated the two International Courses of Sacred Music of Guadix (in collaboration with the University of Granada and the Diocese of Guadix), with two international festivals of sacred music. He has also conducted the International Organ Cycle Cathedral of León. in addition to the International Course of Sacred Music of León.

He has directed the restoration of the historic organ (1785) of the parish of Aldeire (Granada), with a 5-year cycle of charity concerts.

He has been a teacher of historical keyboard instruments and musical appreciation at the SCAEM Center for Musical Studies (Granada).

He has a degree in Ecclesiastical Studies, a Master’s degree in Systematic Theology with a study on theological-musical symbology in the aesthetics of Bach’s work.

He has been titular organist of the Cathedral of León from 2020 to 2023 and is currently dedicated to teaching.
