Joaquín Riquelme

Born in Murcia in 1983, he began his studies at the Conservatory of Murcia with Pedro Navarro, and Antonio J. Clares. He studied his Diplom in the Real Conservatorio Superior de Madrid (RCSMM) with Emilio Mateu and Alan Kovacs, finishing with honors. He continued his Konzertexam studies in Berlin UdK with Professor Hartmut Rohde, finishing in 2010.

He took masterclasses with Hartmut Rohde, Ashan Pillai, Jesse Levine, Nobuko Imai, Jean Sulem, …

Since February 2010 is a full member of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, with which he has performed concerts in the best Halls and Festivals around the world, performing under the baton of conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado and Mariss Jansons among others. Previously, he was Solo assistant of the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona y Nacional de Catalunya.

He won First prizes in several competitions such as the Villa de Llanes, Tomás Lestán, International Festival of Youth Orchestras of Murcia, Ibercaja Scholarship, Escuela de Música de Barcelona, etc. He has also been a finalist for the Juventudes Musicales Spain.

Joaquín Riquelme has performed as soloist with orchestras such as UdK Orchester, Baden-Baden Philharmonie, Orchestra of the Principado de Asturias, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región of Murcia, Simfónica del Vallés, Banda Sinfónica RCSMM, …, and has made recordings for RNE, Catalunya Radio and Naxos. He has given recitals throughout Spain, Germany, Pablo Casals Festival Prades, Festival In Crescendo Berlin, etc.

As an active chamber music player, he has performed with several ensembles like Ensemble Berlin, Philharmonisches Oktett, Landsberg Sommerakademie, taking part in chamber music festivals like Schwetzingen Festival, Musique a l´Emperi ( Salon du Provence), Traunstein Festival, Hohenstaufen, performing with musicians like Emmanuel Pahud, Jörg Widmann, Christian Zacharias and Hartmut Rohde among others, and playing in concert halls like Herkulesaal Munich, Konzerthaus Viena, Philharmonie Berlin, etc.
