Pedro Mateo Gonzalez

Born in Avila in 1983, he started his musical studies in the Conservatory “Tomás Luis de Victoria”, where he graduated in guitar with Salvador Gómez and composition with Antonio Bernaldo de Quirós and Alejandro Moreno.
He subsequently studied in several institutions such as the “Real Conservatorio de Música de Madrid”, with José Luis Rodrigo, the “Hochschule für Musik Köln”, with Roberto Aussel, the “Conservatorio Superior de Música de Salamanca”, with Hugo Geller, and the “Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt” in Weimar, with Thomas Müller-Pering, finishing his Degree with Honors, and the Extraordinary End of Studies prize. He carried out Post-graduate studies in the category of Konzertexam at the “Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf” in the class of professor Joaquín Clerch, ending with “Cum Laude” qualifications, and also with Ricardo Gallén, and Eliot Fisk in the University “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, Austria, where he was a recipient of several scholarships, including “La Caixa”, “Alexander von Humboldt Foundation”, and the Spanish Ministry for Culture.Pedro Mateo González currently teaches Guitar at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de las Islas Baleares, and he has been prize winner of several competitions, including the 2009 Boston Guitar Fest, the 66th edition of “Jeunesses musicales”, the VII International Guitar Competition “Ciudad de Coria”, the III “Miami´s Internacional Competition” and the VI “Anna Amalia Wettbewerb für junge Gitarristen” in Weimar (Germany).
He has performed in concert halls like the Jordan Hall in Boston, the Auditorio Nacional de Cuba, Jerusalem University, the Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid, the Spanish Embassies in Slovenia and Croatia, the Spanish Embassy in Vietnam, the Weimarer Gitarre-Verein in Germany…, teaches regularly t in different music courses and masterclasses at important Universities of Europe and America.
Having also performed as a soloist with the Orchestra of the Spanish Radio and Television, the Symphonic Orchestra of Castilla y León, and the Symphonic Orchestra of the Balearic Islands, with conductors like Alejandro Posadas, Adrián Leaper and Leo Brouwer, he has been broadcasted by the Spanish Television and Radio, Classical Radio of Slovenia and the Deutschland Radio Berlin.
He has recorded for Eudora and NAXOS and also played chamber music concerts next to outstanding musicians such as Pedro Chamorro (bandurria), José Manuel Losada (violin), Joaquin Riquelme (viola), André Cebrián (flute) and Mikhail Tsinman (violin).
