Introducinginnovative compositions including medleys of classical, electronic and even jazz musicis propitious for winning new listeners of classical music.Robert Kabara took on the artistic leadership of the orchestra in 1992. It took two yearsof his creative work as a leader and an artistic director to transform a group of younginexperienced musicians into a professional ensemble defined by its distinctive artisticimage. The Sinfonietta Cracovia, the name of which appeared at the beginning of1994, became a cultural institution under the patronage of the President of the City ofCracow and was granted the status of the Orchestra of the Capital Royal City of Cracow.Much tribute should be paid to the city authorities of that time as well as to El?bietaand Krzysztof Penderecki whose decisive support contributed to the foundation of theyoungest orchestra in Cracow.Collaboration with outstanding figures of the art world has become a vital elementof the concert life of the Sinfonietta. Among them are Krzysztof Penderecki, ChristophEschenbach, Lorin Maazel, Valery Gergiev, Rudolf Buchbinder, Mischa Maisky,Pieter Wispelwey, Ilya Gringolts, Antoni Wit, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Barry Douglas, KajaDanczowska, Irene Grafenauer or Tabea Zimmermann, to name but a few. RobertKabara has been the director and the artistic leader of Sinfonietta Cracovia since it wasestablished in 1994 and from that time he has been collaborating with Adam Balas, thehighly qualified manager of the orchestra.
