Song Circus

The vocal chamber ensemble Song Circus (NO) (2009-) specialize in contemporary music and improvisation. The ensemble has given life to an unusual and fascinating vocabulary of sound, combined with rare musical precision. Song Circus´ first album, Anatomy of Sound, presenting new classical music by Ruben Sverre Gjertsen (NO) and Ole-Henrik Moe (NO), was produced by multiple Grammy nominee surround sound producer Morten Lindberg at 2L, and was recently nominated Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann). Song Circus is among six selected ensembles to perform at Classical:NEXT 2016. The ensemble has achieved The Governmental Ensemble Grant (2012-2018)

Great emphasis is placed on establishing a close dialog with composers and creative musicians. Among collaboratiors are Trevor Wishart (UK, Jaap Blonk (NL), Ruben Sverre Gjertsen (NO), Ole Henrik Moe (NO), Nils Henrik Asheim (NO), Therese Birkelund Ulvo (NO), Tyler Futrell (US/NO) and David Moss (US/DE). The ensemble has been noted for their performances and for the interpretation of several complex and rarely performed pieces, and their concerts have been broadcasted by radio- and TV stations in Norway and Germany.
