Its productions have received many awards, such as a nomination for the 2016 Grammy as best Classical Music Album, Gramophone disc editors choice, Nomination to the ICMA European Awards, 10 “Melómano de Oro” prizes, 5 “Exceptional” distinctions from Scherzo Magazine, a number of High Parades from Rhythm Magazine, and Fanfare Magazine’s 2015 disc of the year in the United States.\r\n\r\nIBS Classical has already gained international recognition. As an example, the English magazine Gramophone has chosen the album \"Goldberg Variations\" of IBS among the 5 best modern recordings of the famous work by Bach. Another example is the album \"Danzas en Todos Los Tiempos\", which was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards as best classical music album in 2016; and so, productions with up to three distinctions. The company operates in all lines of production, from early to contemporary music, from soloists to chamber ensembles and from large orchestral productions to opera.\r\n\r\nAs part of its working philosophy, it pays particular attention to the Musical Heritage of Spain and the recovery of works in this country, as well as in the rest of Europe and worldwide. It also promotes the diffusion of new creations, especially European, Spanish and Latin American composers and performers.\r\n\r\nIBS Classical uses in-house resources to make its recordings. This includes Producers with high musical knowledge, Recording Engineers, best-quality microphones and technological resources specialized in the recording of classical music. They asked Jesus Torres, Jose Maria Sanchez-Verdu, Joan Magrane and Gabriel Erkoreka to write four pieces inspired by Desprez motets and chansons: the concept was for such different styles and approaches to reciprocally throw light upon one another across the divide of half a millennium. Desprez was not chosen by chance: a figure shrouded in enigma and a legend in his own time, he has been described as a rebellious musician who worked for Pope Alexander VI, the Dukes of Ferrara, and the Sforza clan in Milan. Any element present in his pieces has organic importance which gives meaning to the whole ensemble. He drank it with pleasure, “Ja, das ist schön” Ahh, that’s beautiful… were his last words. But did he mean beautiful or did he mean delicious? Do we talk about the beauty of wine or the quality of its taste? Was Brahms enjoying the taste of sun-warmed grapes or was he contemplating life? Or in fact, music? In his own music, perhaps, which brilliantly combines both beauty and excellence.\r\n\r\nThe excellence of Brahms’ work was summed up by Joseph Joachim, the celebrated Hungarian violinist, composer and conductor who worked with Brahms, and who described his music as “pure as a diamond, soft as the snow”. Schumann also praised the serenity and optimism of the tone with which Brahms ended his most somber and tormented pieces: “Over choppy waves finally a rainbow shimmers, as the nightingale’s song accompanies the capricious flight of the butterfly”.\r\n\r\nBrahms was enchanted by the music of female voices, and in 1859 he founded a choir for women in Hamburg, which attained excellence, and for which he composed Four Songs, Op. 17 with accompaniment for two horns and harp from three poems by Tuperti, Shakespeare and Eichendorff, and the fourth based on a page from Ossian’s Fingal. The composition, with its balance of joyful (1 and 3) and somber melodies, met with great success. The second block shows her taste for Latin American poetry and, in accordance with her character, highlights the works of female poets and not just the males. They are texts that evokes her religiousness -like in Padre Nuestro or Viaje eterno-, love – like in El buen día or Mi corazón fue una hoguera- or innocence – like in La manca-. Her music reinforces the ideas and sensations of the texts either with expanded harmonies, rhythmic simplicity or dissonances that, paradoxical as it sounds, sound sweet. In the third block Emiliana takes advantage of the metric of the Haiku that José Juan Tablada translated to Spanish to show her synthetic capability by musically recreating those minimalistic poems. Hopefully this recording will be an incentive to see this beautiful lyric work performed more often. These three operas, premiered within a very short time of each other, are a reflection of a very creative environment and of a community that lived the process of creation and the premiere of these works with great intensity and closeness. These circumstances must have made a strong impression on the young Franz Schubert. There is no doubt that Beethoven, as a shining light of Romantic music, was a tremendous role model (E.T.A. Hoffmann said of Beethoven: ‘Beethoven awakens that infinite longing which is the essence of Romanticism’).\r\n\r\nSchubert only made his first public appearance shortly after his 22nd birthday on 28 February 1819 (i.e. in the last third of his life!) in the hall of the hotel ‘Zum Römischen Kaiser’ with ‘Schäfers Klagelied’. This was also the year in which the first so-called ‘evening entertainments’ took place at Ignaz Sonnleithner’s house. These gatherings focussed on literature and music, and from 1821 these events became known as ‘Schubertiades’. As the name suggests, Franz Schubert was the centre of these events, where he was able to present his compositions to his extended circle of friends. However, in terms of their social impact, these events could not be compared with the grandiose opera performances, most of which featured Rossini’s works and sent the whole of Vienna into a veritable ‘Rossini frenzy’.
