Prior to 1977, when the album was released, Rouse had spent eleven years as the musical alter ego of \u003cstrong\u003eThelonious Monk \u003c\/strong\u003e— a credit that has predictably overshadowed everything else on his resume.\r\n\r\nFor Cinnamon Flower, Charlie enlisted the help of some top crack Brazilian locals. \u003cstrong\u003eDom Salvador, Amaury Tristao, Dom Um Romao, Portinho \u003c\/strong\u003eand\u003cstrong\u003e Claudio Roditi\u003c\/strong\u003e were hooked up with some of NYCs finest – \u003cstrong\u003eRon Carter\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eClifford Adams\u003c\/strong\u003e.\r\n\r\nThe initial recording by Resonance Records president George Klabin was tampered with overdubs, synthesizers and unnecessary coloration. This release of the original recording from\u003cstrong\u003e 2xHD\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eResonance Records\u003c\/strong\u003e with all its excitement and enthusiasm gives a fresh chance to revisit a musician who almost from the start was deemed “underrated.”\r\n\r\nEven people who barely know Jazz would know the names Parker, Hodges, Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, to name a few.
