ptc5186021-the-fascinating-george-gershwin
The Fascinating George Gershwin
Following a number of successful duo performances by violinist Vesko Eshkenazy and pianist Ludmil Angelov, the idea of recording an album with the two of them began to take shape. Ludmil suggested doing something with music of George Gershwin.

However, Gershwin's original repertoire for violin and piano is rather limited. It consists of precisely one small composition entitled 'Short Story', which has so far remained little known, composed in association with the violinist Samuel Dushkin. Therefore, it was decided first to use the historic arrangements by Jascha Heifitz, The brilliant violinist and bosom friend of Gershwin.

The album's Executive Producer, Job Maarse, suggested the addition of guest musicians to offer a bit more spice to the original violin + piano concept. A number of Vesko's friends and colleagues from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra were interested and joined our "Gershwin Adventure"! The result is this fine album of Gershwin classics in Stereo and Multichannel DSD.

Vesko Eschkenazy - Violin
Ludmil Angelov - Piano (Tracks 1-7, 9-13)
Marijn Mijnders - 2nd Violin (Tracks 8, 13)
Henk Rubingh - Viola (Tracks 8, 13)
Gregor Horsch - Cello (Tracks 8, 10, 13)
George Pieterson - Clarinet (Tracks 10, 13)
Herman Rieken - Percussion (Track 13)
