Turning Point is a newly remastered Jazz album by the Tonu Naissoo Trio from APSoon Recordings.  It originally appeared on the market as a Vinyl LP.  The album was recorded by Enn Laidre and released by the Melodyia label.  For this new edition, it has been remastered and transferred from Analog Tape to Stereo DSD by Priit Kuulberg & Aular Soon at APSoon using a Horus Analog to Digital Converter from Merging Technologies.  Turning Point is exclusively available in Stereo DSD 256, DSD 128 and DSD 64 at NativeDSD. It is a DSD Exclusive, Not Available on SACD release.

Turning Point refers to an altered cast as well as new ventures in music. With one exception (Ornette Coleman’s Lonely Woman), the pieces on the album are Naissoo’s own compositions from 1977 to 1980. They range from intimate ballads to post-bop and are characterized by intense rhythmics and intertwined ensemble play. Fresh color is added by the Rhodes electric piano enriching and modernizing the sound, and by experiments with the musical lineup.

The album is the first in a new series of albums titled Estonian Jazz from APSoon Recordings.  Patterned after their earlier Estonian Organs series of DSD releases at NativeDSD. As part of the  new Estonian Jazz series, APSoon will release the best of Estonian Jazz that has been recorded on Analog Audio media.  These Jazz albums will then be transferred from Analog to the high-definition Direct Stream Digital (DSD) format.
