Drawing on historical solfeggio and ornamentation drawn from Bach, Benda, and Quantz, Frey and Accademia de’ Dissonanti trace the concertos from the stormy, tender-passionate A minor of 1750 through the Galant charm of the B-flat major to the expressive depths of the A major — music built for the private academies of mid-eighteenth-century Berlin.
