Wind Piano Trios

The trio for oboe, bassoon, and piano was firmly established with Francis Poulenc’s Trio FP 43 (1926), a vibrant, concise work that showcases his lyrical style and admiration for Manuel de Falla. Originally conceived for strings, the piece evolved to highlight the unique colors of double reeds and piano. Its premiere, featuring Poulenc himself, marked a milestone in French chamber music.
