Alishan Mountain is located in Taiwan and famous for its compelling beauty of mountain scenery. Girls from Mountain Alishan is a popular local folk song from Alishan and the popularity of this song has turned Mt.Alishan into a prime tourist destination. Over the past decades, many popular folk songs of different nationalities of China have been transcribed into orchestral music as a way of an introduction to western orchestration. This orchestral version of Girls from Mountain Alishan is one of the encore hits of the CNSO. 2 Songtseyala by Ding Xiao Li Songtseyala is a concert piece for orchestra arranged by the late Chinese composer Ding Xiao Li. The music comes from a song called Song of a laundry girl written by Luo Nian Yi in the 1960s, who adopted a popular Tibetan folk song and set the different lyrics to it. The result was a nation-wide hit from the 1960s to 1980s, still very popular today among middleaged people. Less is more; this piece has nothing special but just repeats its beautiful and short melody at the joyful accompaniment of a dancing rhythm. Songtseyala is a new name borrowed from Tibetan, meaning something auspicious…
