Who Cares? is the latest album from Jazz Saxophone player Scott Hamilton. Here he is joined by pianist Andrea Pozza and drummer Alfred Kramer as they play some wonderful classics including Alregin, Old Devil Moon, Don't Worry 'Bout Me, and All of Me. Recorded Live to Stereo DSD 64 by Giulio Cesare Ricci in Fone's famed Natural Sound technique. Pianist Andrea Pozza says "Few times in life one has the feeling to be in the right place at the right time. It happened to me in the cellar of Hotel Il Castello in Certaldo on the occasion of the recording of this album. To record with Scott Hamilton, one of my all-time favorite musicians, in an extraordinary place with invaluable microphones skillfully maneuvered by Giulio Cesare Ricci, a real “guru” of hifi recording, enjoying the hospitality Alfred Kramer (and his snare drum and brushes in a couple of takes) and the amazing food at Il Castello - what do you think, isn’t that enough?" Scott Hamilton - Saxophone Andrea Pozza - Piano Alfred Kramer - Drums

Audiophile Style

This is a recording on, dare I say it, a boutique audiophile label, Fone. This set was recorded in the cellar of the Hotel II Castello in Italy.

On it, Scott Hamilton is accompanied by Andrea Pozza on piano. It is a somewhat laidback ballad set with exceptional sonics with natural reverb and decay.

Scott has several recordings on the Fone label. They are all worth checking out. There is another set with Andrea Pozza entitled, I Could Write a Book, as well as Bean and the Boys and Ballads for Audiophiles.

This album reminded me of an recording where the B-side is stronger then the A-side. Still, it is an enjoyable album. Although I much prefer “I Could Write A Book” by the same musicians.
