From the top to the bottom of Traveling which was recorded in 1976, guitarist Chuck Wayne “flies” over the fingerboard of his electric guitar with astounding “chops” and amazing, soaring lines. Each tune, thoughtfully arranged, with elements, rhythmic or melodic and instrumental combinations, has a personality of its own.
Chuck Wayne is definitely one of the guitar world’s giant heroes. This recording with the Chuck Wayne Quartet is a unique treasure, to be shared by that entire world.

Actually, a 4.75* album but I can only select a whole number. The missing 0.25* is due to the lack of vibraphones on the later tracks, which is a shame as I thought the instrument elevated the earlier tracks. Still, the tunes and playing make this album a gem which deserves a wider audience.
