The Sky Is Crying (DXD & DSD Remastered) is a new Analog Tape to DXD & DSD transfer from 2xHD Mastering and Storyville Records. Blues singer Sonny Boy Williamson is a true original. Every blues harmonica player has struggled to master his style. You can hear his licks played by James Cotton (whom Sonny Boy raised and tutored), Junior Wells, Howling Wolf, Junior Parker and literally hundreds of other harp players. But one listen to Sonny Boy and you’ll know no one else was quite the same. It’s hard to think of a single song he recorded not worth listening to again and again. In this outstanding recording quality, you can hear the exchange from Lung to Breath to Harmonica, plus Sonny Boy’s distinctive gravelly voice. This album is a must have for any blues fan. Sonny Boy Williamson - Harmonica & Vocals Matt Murphy - Guitar Memphis Slim - Piano Billie Stepney - Drums

Anyone who thinks that the harmonica cannot be expressive should listen to this album with an open mind.

I bought the FLAC 96Khz version of the album and was, at times, a little disappointed in the recording: for example, the recording levels seemed inconsistent. Despite this, I recommend the album.

Wow. This recording is intimate and alive.

Yes - you can hear everything. Spookily present for a recording that must be nearly sixty years old. There is faint distortion and background hiss on Track 4 - The Story of Sunny Boy Williamson, which in no way detracts for the experience. The remaining tracks could have been recorded last week.
