Infinite: Ambient Improvisations at Saint-Ouen
Ambient Organ Improvisations In A Gothic Abbey.
A New Stereo and 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Album on Base2 Music from the Edit Master Source!
Recorded in the vast acoustic of the Abbey of Saint-Ouen, Rouen, Infinite: Ambient Improvisations at Saint-Ouen presents a sequence of ambient organ improvisations shaped by space, resonance, and tonal depth. The program unfolds in two parts: the first inward and meditative, grounded in sustained pedal and slowly evolving harmonic fields; the second broader in scale and more theatrical in gesture, culminating in Prelude, Passacaglia and Lament, Op. 6 and the expansive Sonorous works. Performed by Jake Purches on the celebrated Cavaillé-Coll organ of Saint-Ouen, the music draws on the instrument’s warmth, clarity, and architectural power. While Part I favors restraint and interiority, Part II opens outward, embracing fuller registration and heightened dramatic contrast. Captured in high-resolution stereo and true 5.1 Channel Surround Sound, the recording preserves the organ’s scale and the abbey’s extended reverberation. The 5.1 Channel Surround Sound perspective articulates spatial separation between Grand Organ and Choir Organ, enhancing depth and localization within the soundstage. No electronic instruments or Ai used in the project. All sound effects were recorded by Jake Purches.Jake Purches, Organ Jean-Baptiste Monnot, Organ (Prelude, Passacaglia, and Lament, Op. 6)
