Shostakovich, Strauss & Biber

Shostakovich, Strauss, Biber by the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, led by Terje Tønnesen, is a captivating exploration of contrasting musical landscapes. This album masterfully weaves together Shostakovich's haunting "Chamber Symphony", Strauss's lush "Metamorphosen" (arranged for chamber ensemble), and Biber's intricate "Battalia à 10", showcasing the orchestra's versatility and Tønnesen's visionary leadership. From the emotional intensity of Shostakovich to the rich textures of Strauss and the Baroque brilliance of Biber, the ensemble delivers performances that are both technically impeccable and deeply expressive. The living legend Terje Tønnesen is back. Since its formation in 1977 the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra has established itself as one of the foremost chamber orchestras on the international classical music scene. The orchestra's international tours to Europe, Asia and the USA have received outstanding reviews at many of the world's prestigious concert halls and festivals.
