A Serious Yet Playful Musical Family Portrait Mari Kodama, Momo Kodama, Karin Kei Nagano and Kent Nagano present Double and Triple Piano Concertos by Mozart and Poulenc, together with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR). This unique project highlights the musicality and congeniality of this extraordinary family of performers.

On this album, the four members of the Nagano-Kodama family – Kent (husband), Mari (wife), Momo (sister), and Karin (daughter) – join forces with the OSR. The collective performance on this album resonates with Mozart’s own practice of performing his music together with his father, his sister, his wife, and his sister-in-law. Bill Dodd, NativeDSD Senior Reviewer says the album offers "A fantastic rendition of the Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos!" The album is Exclusively Available in Stereo and 5 Channel Surround Sound DSD 256, DSD 128 and DXD plus Stereo DSD 512 at NativeDSD. Despite belonging to different ages in music history, Mozart and Poulenc share a combination of playfulness and seriousness, and Poulenc – who adored Mozart’s Concerto for two pianos – manages to integrate touches of Mozartian neoclassicism into his genuinely French and twentieth-century double concerto. Sharing the stage on this recording is a dream come true for the Nagano-Kodama family. Mari Kodama, Momo Kodama & Karin Kei Nagano, Piano Kent Nagano, Conductor Orchestre de la Suisse Romande

The Classic Review

Azusa Ueno

The Poulenc Double Concerto is a welcome—albeit completely different—addition. The duo thrives on the repeated notes, runs, and other flourishes throughout the first movement. There’s a delightful chaos to it, thanks to Poulenc’s blend of styles and elements. There are the furious dissonances and the playful castanets (which might remind us of Prokofiev) followed by a more lyrical section that’s steeped in mystery. But at each turn, the pianists and orchestra seem well-prepared to take on the new characters that appear, resulting is an exciting montage.
