Sergei Rachmaninoff was one of the most beloved composers of the twentieth century. His music is redolent of his Russian homeland, and it sings long, lush melodies that define the term “romantic.” Everyone who knows and loves his piano concertos will enjoy these lyrical and dynamic works for orchestra. I recall what a huge impact this album had on the audiophile community when it was first released in 2001. It continues to be a great recording with excellent performances of these works.

This is an example of some of the outstanding PCM recordings that NativeDSD has been missing out on and now is able to offer with their change in policy. I'm delighted to see it now available at NativeDSD.

If you don't already have this, get it! If you have any interest at all in the music of Rachmaninoff, or in great orchestral recordings generally, you won't be disappointed.
