At an event in Japan and for an audience of about 60 people from the recording industry, singer Shanti and Amphion Loudspeakers CEO Anssi Hyvonen talked about what DSD is, what hi-res is in general, and they recorded songs. "Up On The Roof" was one of them. "Amphion was demonstrating what is like to hear a song that was recorded in DSD 256 being played through really high end speakers." Shanti tells us. Find out much more about the event in this 10-minute interview with DJ Kamasami Kong on "Japan Tonight". Speaking of Japan, when this DSD Single was first released there, it hit No. 1 on the best-seller charts! Shanti tells us "I am so excited to bring to you this all time Carole King standard in the DSD format. It is raw, live and non-mastered. The spirit of the song is kept alive while simultaneously exploring sound quality which is the vision Amphion Loudspeakers and I have in common. It always has to be a balance! I hope that this is just the beginning of many songs to reach your heart! Bless!" Shanti Snyder - Vocals Philip Woo - Piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otv1nwO6G8g

An example is a one-off single by singer Shanti Snyder of the Gerry Goffin/Carole King pop hit "Up on the Roof," recorded in Onkio Haus Studio #1 in Tokyo, Japan, in 2018.

I was able to listen in native form, auditioning this DSD 256 recording as a DSD 256 download from NativeDSD.

From the piano introduction at the beginning, by pianist and producer Philip Woo, it is warm and intimate; you can almost breathe the space. Shanti's soft voice fits right in; the relaxed tempo does as well.

The antithesis of flashy, it grooves gently.
