This time I decided to raise the stakes and compare the formats: PCM WAV 768 kHz/24 bit and DSD 256. As a result, this has already become the norm, DSD 256 sounds more expressive, more intelligible and has a softer delivery of musical material. This is cool!
Also, when playing PCM WAV 768 kHz/24 bit, a slight background noise is heard, which is not present in DSD 256. The choice is obvious - this is the DSD 256 format (choose based on the capabilities of your DAC)!

So refreshing to find a World Premiere Recording among the massive amount of new releases. Especially by a completely forgotten composer, Antonio María Nava, who certainly deserves more attention.
Great romantic music in a wonderful performance by Ulla and Maruri. I love the sound of the romantic guitar. Bravo!. I hope we get more like this soon.
I purchased an additional resolution of this album. This time I chose the DSD 256 format. I compared it with the previously purchased DXD format. There is a difference and it is audible, as always the DSD format won!
Thanks to the processing of my DAC, the DSD format really has a softer, more pleasant to the ear presentation of audio material!

This was the first Beethoven piece that I have downloaded. I was astonished at how well this string performance literally came alive. One my all time favorites.
If you like guitar music, and I do, you will love what this Ensemble has put together for you. It feels like the group is very synchronized which makes the sound of the music even better.
The program of the album is really refined and interesting. The duo has a natural sound. It is so fused that it seems like a single performer. It makes listening a fascinating experience. Good job!
I love an album of great music that has a recording quality that is so rich and fulfilling it encompasses the listener. This one fits the bill and is now one of the best in this respect in my large collection. Excellent!
In a world of AI slop ambiance, this shines through as intentional and crafted. It has as much depth as any other music. I am a psychedelic assisted therapist and I use this with my clients too!
Overall, I agree with both of the previous customer reviews. It's a gorgeous album, and, your mood matters.
The recording and engineering are superb. Each of the instruments expresses the clarity, tone and range it can. My father played and taught woodwinds, particularly saxophone. So I've heard a lot of sax. He'd even practice some of these pieces, and yes, this brings back memories. Jesper Staps is a wonderful player with lovely, melt into your soul, tone.
But mood. Yes. As when enjoying an excellent wine, your mood greatly affects your experience. For me, I'd say this album is for when you're ready to just let the music roll over you while you absorb the sounds, picking and choosing from a truly beautiful tonal tableau.
Lastly, I’d say the label “Smooth Jazz” is mistaken. While passages of some tracks (clearly including the first, Carice) are open and relaxed, I find each also builds into an emotional intensity. I admit I find labels like this generally silly, and at best, necessary evils. Hopefully, we each find our own sense of any music.
This is a fantastic collection of superbly played piano music by some of the finest artists I have ever heard. Every song is creatively played and each key wonderfully struck.
This interpretation is distinguished by the clarity and detail in the polyphonic conduction, which allows to follow each melodic line at will, avoiding that some predominate over others and facilitating the listening, which is also harmonic and orderly.
To this is added a rigorous reading of the text. Characterized by a sober approach and devoid of excesses that could distract from the inherent sense of this music by Bach.
On the technical level, the recording stands out for its sound cleanliness. Every element, from the delicate ornaments to the timbral characteristics, is clearly perceived. The sense of spatiality and the fidelity of the microphonic pickup contribute to a listening experience that is not only pleasurable, but also immersive.
Overall, rigor, balance and technical quality combine to consolidate this performance as a highly recommendable option for both connoisseurs and those approaching this music for the first time.
Miguel exploring new repertoire with Tosti has been a beautiful experience to listen to. Hopefully, we will also listen to some other works of the nineteenth century!
This is an absolutely wonderful recording. Amazing soundstage with smooth transitions throughout. Beautiful work of art and I highly recommend for any music lover.
There is just something about this playing and recording. I find this the most go-to piano solo album I have. It is so soothing, I will listen for long lengths of time.
Great performance, but not a great recording. Very dry and upper register, very little below midrange. Thin. But by all means a great performance by a classic group.
