Elgar: Solo Piano Works, Vol. 2

What a discovery!!!! These piano pieces by Elgar are curative for the soul, so nice and beautiful. They are like small capsules of balsamic medicine. Highly recommended!!!! They are in two volumes, get both of them it is worth it.!!!!!!!!

Luigi Taglietti: The Long Lost Sibling [World Premiere Recording]

I honestly can’t believe this music isn’t famous. From the first track I had the feeling of “where has this been all my life?”. The pieces are beautiful, very melodic, sometimes full of energy and sometimes really moving.

L’Accademico Formato play with a lot of warmth and personality. The strings sound alive, and the conversation between violin and cello is a joy to listen to. The sound quality is also great. Clear, rich and never tiring on the ears.

I put it on out of curiosity and ended up listening to the whole album without noticing the time. This is one of those recordings you want to come back to again and again.

This album is a wonderful discovery for me.

It's laid-back Jazz, just the way I like it, where you can appreciate each instrument. Thank you to Just Listen Records for allowing us to appreciate this group through the quality of their recording. I encourage them to maintain the same high standards for all their future recordings.

Grieg & Saint-Saëns: Piano Concertos

Grieg & Saint-Saëns: Piano Concertos

Two of my favorite piano concertos played and recorded spectacularly! Both are stirring performances. Saint Saens reportedly was an excellent pianist. IMO, Ms. Bartal rises to the challenges of his concerto, as well as to Grieg's also gorgeous concerto. I look forward to more recordings by Ms. Bartal!

Native's conversion to DSD 512 definitely adds clarity and presence to a very good DSD 256 recording.

Mozart & Schubert [Pure DSD]

Nice rich open sound/ Extremely well recorded in Pure DSD. I have also listened to it in DXD and the difference is obvious. As for the performance, it shows that both pianists seemingly melt into one. I recommend the buy.

Jesus of Nazareth [Pure DSD]

Rather than a mere simplification, this return to the essential stands as a clear sign of remarkable compositional maturity. The work’s structure is notably intricate and well-developed, showcasing a writing style marked by solid formal control and a masterful handling of the timbral potential offered by the two violins.

The performers play with impressive technical accuracy and a clean, precise sound, bringing to life an elegant and expressive phrasing that avoids any sense of predictability. Their interplay reveals a strong artistic cohesion, and the musical dialogue between them captures both meditative passages and moments of intense emotional depth.

The album’s audio quality is outstanding: clear, detailed, and immersive. Allowing every subtle nuance to emerge fully in the listening experience. Truly remarkable!

Very enjoyable album. Played and recorded quite nicely.

Very nice listen. These pianists have a dynamic often missed in four hand piano works and it works well.

The Schönberg, Webern and Berg works are excellent listens and contribute to the overall listening experience. The Bach, however, is totally out of place, destroying the overall arc of the album. It just doesn't belong. The album would be five stars without the Bach.

Love You Madly: Live at Bubba's [Double Album]

Absolute sonic delight. Before the purchase I was a little bit skeptical about how good a transfer of an old tape can be, compared to a modern DSD 256 recording. But, WOW! It has huge staging.

This DXD edition is immersive and pulls me into the performance, as if I was really there in the audience, near the stage. Thank you so much NativeDSD for offering this absolute treasure in your fantastic catalog.

Sometimes a good album can be elevated by the quality of its recording into something sublime.

This blend of electronics and hazy female vocals is not usually my thing, and I certainly don’t listen to straight techno. But here we have a captivating cocktail both as a technical exercise in just how good DSD can sound (oddly as it gets more and more “natural” it brings out the subtle rhythms and harmonics in what is after all “artificial” music) and an artistic statement of 21st century pop.

First class and worth the DSD 512 premium over the lower resolution FLAC file available elsewhere. You only buy music that you enjoy once, so buy the best your playback chain can reveal.

Listening to the recording, I was immersed in a sublime atmosphere, filled with profound music and poetry, bursting with colors, nuances, breaths, energy, and passion. I'm truly satisfied and thank my precious partner Yulia for being an excellent pianist. I certainly recommend everyone to immerse themselves in this musical journey.

I am glad to have embarked on this digital journey. The starter pack has a taste of many genres. I have listened to this recording through my Focal Clear headphones using my treasured MicroZOTL tube headphone amp and experienced a genuine soundstage on all counts.

I used my Marantz SA10 Super Audio CD (SACD) Player as a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) and the DSD .dsf files are Stereo DSD 128. My very best CDs cannot compete with the airy separation, clarity and depth of these DSD Downloads from NativeDSD.

I could not detect any harshness in the upper frequencies or boomy low frequencies so often heard on less refined recordings. The recording engineer still has to take precautions when recording music in DSD. The microphones have to be carefully placed to accomplish such a sound stage recording. All of the musicians had to be mentally and physically prepared when the recording starts. It still comes down to the quality of the performance as well. Top to bottom, it is a monumental task to arrive at the excellence of the overall performance and recording. Job well done!

I sincerely appreciate the fact that you can listen to a short sample of all of the DSD recordings that NativeDSD has to offer. This gives me a chance to audition any potential purchases. I hope this process never changes, everything gives me the confidence of purchasing future recordings without any hesitation. Cheers!

Actually, a 4.75* album but I can only select a whole number. The missing 0.25* is due to the lack of vibraphones on the later tracks, which is a shame as I thought the instrument elevated the earlier tracks. Still, the tunes and playing make this album a gem which deserves a wider audience.

The Blue Hour Sessions: Audiophile Jazz Recordings [Pure DSD]

The Pure DSD 256 version of this album is a wonderful recording full of lovely, tasteful playing. Sure, most of these tunes are quite old, however, I never get tired of hearing the best Jazz musicians re-interpret songs from the past, breathing new life into them.

For instance: Basin Street Blues. I have a DSD 64 recording of Seven Steps to Heaven by Miles Davis. Substitute the Piano for the Trumpet, brushes on the drums rather than sticks, drop the tempo, lay the feel way way back, and it is almost a new tune. A great example of changing the Timbre of a tune and, in this case, making it fresh.

Antonin Dvorak

Antonin Dvorak

This is a very enjoyable recording of Dvorak's popular trios. It received a strong recommendation in Fanfare Mag. Osirus' playing compares quite favorably to the earlier recording by Ax, Kim & Ma in my opinion. Cobra's recording quality in DSD is exquisite.
