Things Left At Ebb Tide

The music recorded on the disc develops step-by-step and strengthens into an organic unity, in front of our watching eyes. In this term, it essentially differs from the typical construction system of the jazz world: it doesn’t improvise on given themes or motives; it doesn’t follow through and unify the improvisation with a harmonic structure given prior. This kind of music poetry is mystical and perhaps, the third ear, characteristic for the initiatedness of orphic rites and metaphysical abstraction give birth to the musical grammar of a given situation, which is changing from one moment to the other and which is shaped, tamed, collated, and developed by the musicians, until the musical form finds itself in a miraculous and irrational way and creates the ideal foundation of the given musical dialogue. - Stevan Kovacs Tickmayer (composer, pianist, essayist) István Grencsó (1956), saxophonist and flutist, is one of the outstanding figures of Hungarian avant-garde jazz.
