The Gabor Varga Jazz Trio's release of Cool Jazz in 2020 was one of that year's biggest events on NativeDSD. With Cool Jazz going on to become a 2020 Album of the Year award winner. And a frequent entry on the NativeDSD Top Sellers List to this day. Now, Jazz pianist Gabor Varga has released his 5th album at NativeDSD - Cool Jazz Reload. Along with the Gabor Varga Trio, this album promises to be another DSD Jazz favorite at NativeDSD. It has been recorded in Stereo DSD 256 and is being offered here as 180g vinyl. It is also available as PureDSD download. The songs were played on the Boganyi B-292 Grand Piano. It is Boganyi’s flagship model and a full-size grand concert piano. Introducing a new dimension of smooth, powerful sound, entwined with its astonishing appearance. Gabor Varga tells us "This record is a milestone, a manifestation of our almost 15 years of playing together. It was a pleasure to record it and to listen to it. I have a feeling that it is a beginning, impetus to a great leap forward. This is ‘THE’ album. Gábor Varga Jazz Trio Cool Jazz Reload. Listen to it with an open heart as it was recorded in the same spirit. No one has written songs for this album, and yet songs were born. No one had been rehearsing for this album, and yet it was recorded on the first try. No one wanted this album, but everybody loved it. This album is intuitive, honest, a reflection of itself. It does not want to come from or belong anywhere, it only wants to be played and listened to. Human is the message it wants to convey, which is also its sole purpose. It does not want to explain anything, and yet everybody will understand it. It is who we are. -- Thank you very much." A thoroughly engaging set of pure improvisations...This is a recording of great sensitivity with total empathy among the performers. It is improvisational jazz in the best sense of the genre. Cool and laid back, but filled with lyricism and innovation.

As I continue listening to the recordings of Gabor Varga, whether solo or with various combinations of other musicians, I find myself drawn to listening more and more to his music-making. I've never considered myself as someone who enjoys cool jazz; I'm more drawn to bop and hard bop from a generation ago. But, Varga's musical explorations interest me. I find them engaging and compelling.

Cool Jazz Reload bought in Pure DSD 256. It is a very relaxing album. Maybe just a tad more avantgarde than the first of the Cool Jazz-series. Just sit down and listen. Have heard some of the AI-music lately... what slop. With this you can tell, it has a soul. I love and can recommend it!

The Pure DSD 256 here takes it up a big notch. The realism, crispness, and separation of the instruments in a wide sound stage is fantastic. Quality here is top notch. The composition and arrangement are smooth, relaxing, and of course *very* cool. This is a great album.
