Torn (Special High End Edition) is the first album from Carmen Gomes Inc. for Sound Liaison. The album was recorded in two days in Studio 11 of the Dutch World Broadcasting Service. The music was recorded live, with the all musicians in the same room, but with a higher degree of separation between the instruments than the Studio Showcase albums, thus making small repairs and overdubs possible. Vocalist Carmen Gomes tells us "Torn was inspired partly by the tragic marriage of a close friend coming to an end and a strong artistic need for getting back to basics, The Blues. In a sense it is a concept album. The 9 songs follow each other in a logical order telling the story of a relationship falling apart. Come on in My Kitchen representing the initial attraction and the Thrill is Gone the end of love." The album is available at NativeDSD in Stereo DSD 512, DSD 256, DSD 128, DSD 64 and DXD. Plus 24 bit 192kHz FLAC and the recorded format and bit rate of 24 bit 96kHz WAV. This is a DSD Exclusive, Not Available on SACD release. Carmen Gomes Inc. Carmen Gomes - Vocals Folker Tettero - Guitar Peter Bjornild - Double Bass Marcel van Engelen - Drums

Torn by Carmen Gomes Inc. is one of the first albums from the Sound Liaison label that is available as a High Definition Stereo Music Download. But a rich bandwidth and a purist team of musicians and technical masters must also be interesting from a musical point of view. Torn by Carmen Gomes Inc. amply meets that test.

Carmen Gomes Inc. features the musically trained voice of Carmen Gomes, Folker Tettero with his bluesy-sounding guitar sound, Peter Bjørnild on bass and Marcel van Engelen on drums. Torn mixes Blues with Vocal Jazz.

This album was recorded in just two days in November 2012 in Studio Eleven and provided with mixing and production by the duo of Peter and Frans. The twelve tracks consist partly of her own work and partly of well-known blues tracks that are inspired and performed by Gomes and her band.

The album shines through the extremely relaxed atmosphere that is reproduced by both the band and the refined recording techniques in my listening room. The instruments work lightly, but pleasantly interact and have the same acoustic properties, thanks to playing and recording together.

The housings of the drums thus become almost visible, while Gomes is almost tangible, witness tracks like You Gotta Move, I'm Torn or The Thrill Is Gone. Her somewhat sultry, extremely talented and controlled voice is quite unique and the singer knows how to convey emotion without wanting to be a flat imitation of anything.

Torn is therefore incredibly easy to listen to, the dynamics are of an addictive high quality and the music itself is also made to really make music, not for a great recording. A great combination, given the exuded tranquility and high degree of control of all four members of Carmen Gomes Inc. Their instruments testify to a level that is more often found in countries such as Germany or America, which can be seen as a great compliment.

No audiophile haggling here. Just music, albeit with exemplary production. Mandatory listening for anyone who has a warm heart for Bluesy Jazz, Good Recordings and Reproduction!
