Discrete Immersive Audio

Discrete Immersive Audio files are 10 to 12 channel DSD and DXD files that add 4 channels of height information to 5.1 Channel and 7.1 Channel Surround Sound. It is often referred to as 5.1.4 Channel Immersive Audio or 7.1.4 Channel Immersive Audio (a reference to adding 4 height channels to 5 Channel, 5.1 Channel , 7 Channel or 7.1 Channel Surround Sound recordings).

The Height dimension transforms and augments the emotional impact of music recorded and released in this format.

To hear the 4 height channels and the 5.1 or 7.1 Surround Sound audio in Discrete Immersive files, the listener will need 10 to 12 channels of DSD and DXD to Analog Conversion in their music system. Typically this can be achieved with a professional 10 to 12 Channel Digital to Analog Converter such as the Hapi or Horus from Merging Technologies.

These files are not intended for use with an Audio Video Receiver (AVR) or a preamp/processor that features decoders for Auro3D and Dolby Atmos Immersive Audio.

If you have an AVR or preamp/processor, we recommend purchasing albums from NativeDSD.Com with Auro3D and Dolby Atmos formats encoded into the music using FLAC and MKV files.
