Gustav Hoyer’s Conversations captures the simplicity and elegance of music that paints with splashes of classical color on a modern canvas. The album was recorded in Stereo Pure DSD 256 using the Hapi Analog to Digital Converter from Merging Technologies. The musicians all gave a marvelous performance, but Gustav’s compositions are really the star of the show in Octave’s first album of pure chamber recordings.

‘Souvenirs’ includes four movements of piano and string quartet, each with the distinct feeling of an epic movie soundtrack. The melodies of ‘Sonatina’ conjure a whimsical journey using only the piano. ‘Tears’ brings us back to the fullness of the string quartet and adds the airy sensation of the flute with emotionally moving motifs. ‘Ballade’ moves us into new territory with a duet of piano and clarinet. We end with ‘Wedding Prayer’ that fills our listening room with the sound of hope and brilliance of a future waiting.

Recorded in Pure DSD 256 by Paul McGowan, this is a limited-edition instant classic that should make its way into any good audiophile music collection.
