Kvindelige Studenters Sangforening

The Women’s Choral Society of the University of Oslo (Kvindelige Studenters Sangforening) is the official Women’s Choir at the University of Oslo.  The choir was founded in 1895 and is the world’s oldest academic female choir. Despite the choir’s long history, it is now a young student-based choir with approximately 45 singers.

The choir presents Norwegian folk music in new as well as traditional arrangements. This includes a selection of pieces composed by Grieg and wedding marches from the majestic and weathered Northern Norway. In addition, they sing a repertoire of newly written music, with great harmonies and exciting dissonances.
