Germany 1956 & 1958 Lost Tapes from 2xHD and SWR Music features the 13 previously unreleased tapes the Modern Jazz Quartet made for German radio between 1956 and 1958. They include Kurt Elderhagen’s fingerpoppin’ big band arrangement of ‘Bluesology’.

Elsewhere the quartet mix John Lewis‘s originals with standards that include ‘You Go To My Head’, ‘I Can’t Get Started’ and Milt Jackson‘s poignant unaccompanied interpretation of ‘Tenderly’.

The Lost Tapes also features the Harald Banter Ensemble on Track 5 and the Kurt Edelhagen Orchestra on Tracks 6 and 7.
