Soprano Agathe Peyrat and accordionist Pierre Cussac reimagine a night-to-dawn journey across classical and chanson repertoire, dissolving the line between the two on their signature instrumentation of accordion, ukulele and voice. Mozart’s “Queen of the Night” aria is transformed into something unrecognizably intimate, Puccini’s “E lucevan le stelle” becomes a wordless accordion aria, and Wagner, Bizet, Saint-Saëns and Rameau sit alongside Trenet, Brigitte Fontaine and the traditional “Danny Boy.” Recorded in the spirit of live performance, the album moves fluidly from grand, orchestral lyricism to hushed, folk-inflected intimacy — never fully in darkness or light, but in every shade between.
