This is a project of significant emotional importance to the composer, Olesya Rostovskaya. It is played on her very first piano, the instrument to which she was drawn even before she could walk and used in the first years of her musical training. A new instrument was then bought, the old piano was given away and for nearly forty years Olesya had no access to it. However, it so happened that due to quite dramatic circumstances the piano was reacquired, dusty, out of tune, but still alive. Olesya decided not to have the instrument re-tuned for this project, leaving the signs of long years of separation intact.
