An Audiophile Percussion Extravaganza!

Audiophile Percussion+ delivers a thrilling, high-impact listening experience—drawn from an all-analog master and transferred to DXD. This percussion showcase delivers stunning transient detail, spatial depth, and dynamic range that pushes the boundaries of audio fidelity.

From pop and rock to Latin and classical, this explosive collection moves across a rich spectrum of grooves, driven by rhythm in all its forms—pulse, tempo, accents, dynamics, texture, and colour.

Performed with razor-sharp precision and electrifying energy by the Musicus Percussion Ensemble, joined by guest multi-instrumentalist Robert Len, Audiophile Percussion+ is rhythm, redefined.

The Audiophile Percussion + project was recorded July 1999, at Montreal’s Claude Champagne Concert Hall on a Nagra T analog recorder at 15 ips on BASF SM468 tape. The recording was done using A-B stereo microphone technique, using a pair of omni Brüel & Kjær 1 inch measurement microphones renowned for their high accuracy and sonic characteristics.

There were additional vintage tube microphones on many percussion elements – Neumann M49, Neumann U67 and AKG C12. The recording and mix were done live on a Studer model 089  console. Overdubs by multi-instrumentalist Robert Len were recorded at 2xHD’s studio, using a Neumann M50 and Josephson Engineering C617 microphones.
