Luigi Taglietti (Brescia, 1668 – 1715) was an Italian violinist and composer, and most notably the younger brother of Giulio Taglietti (c. 1660 – 1718), whose name still resonates in today’s Baroque programs. A tale of two brothers who brought Brescia into the musical spotlight. But like any spotlight, it casts a shadow — that of an unrecognized talent whose music reveals a unique blend of lightness and drama.
Luigi’s style, marked by short yet eloquent phrases and long, singing lines, highlights not only the violin’s natural virtuosity but also grants the cello an unusually prominent role, both in his Symphonies and in his Concertos. These terms, used more fluidly in his time, contrast with today’s distinctions: the Symphonies Op. 6 call for a much smaller ensemble than the Concertos.
This complete The Long Lost Sibling, Op. 6, recorded for the first time — and quite possibly performed for the first time in hundreds of years — radiates a sense of freshness and elegance that transcends any period or personal taste, that thanks to L’Accademico Formato is not long-lost anymore.
L’Accademico Formato, the Baroque Orchestra of Málaga, was founded to fill a vital cultural space in the city — that of historically informed performance rooted in research, rediscovery, and creative renewal. Formed mainly by Andalusian musicians who, after years of study and professional activity abroad, have returned to build a sustainable artistic project in their homeland, the ensemble reflects a generation that transforms education and experience into lasting cultural value.
Driven by curiosity and a commitment to authenticity, L’Accademico Formato explores both well-known and forgotten repertoire, offering fresh perspectives through historically grounded interpretation. Their performances combine academic rigour with expressive vitality, creating an immediate and dynamic connection with the audience.
With a clear Andalusian identity and a broad European vision, the orchestra aims not only to preserve the heritage of early music but also to renew its audience — engaging new generations through living, intelligent, and emotionally resonant performance.

The Moreno family in Alicante, recommends this wonderful music.
Juan Utrera and his orchestra are the best.

I honestly can’t believe this music isn’t famous. From the first track I had the feeling of “where has this been all my life?”. The pieces are beautiful, very melodic, sometimes full of energy and sometimes really moving.
L’Accademico Formato play with a lot of warmth and personality. The strings sound alive, and the conversation between violin and cello is a joy to listen to. The sound quality is also great. Clear, rich and never tiring on the ears.
I put it on out of curiosity and ended up listening to the whole album without noticing the time. This is one of those recordings you want to come back to again and again.

An incredible album, the orchestra sounds great and Juan has a very singable violin sound.
