Original Recording Format: Analog

From the worlds of Jazz, Blues, Percussion Ensembles, World Music, and Classical Music comes Audiophile Analog Collection, Volume 2. The album features performances by the Marc Vallee Trio, Trio de Curda, Monique Page & Regis Rousseau, Sonny Boy Williamson, Doreen Smith & Bobby Troup, Frederic Alarie & Eric Chappell, Raymond Daveluy, and the Orchestre Mondial conducted by Pierre Hetu.

This is a special compilation of analog audiophile recordings at their best, with an emphasis on execution and great sound. It is a must for the audiophile enthusiast.

Albums from 2xHD guarantee that the ultimate quality is preserved from the original master. Audiophile quality microphone designer and winner of “Best Sound in Show” at high-end audio equipment conventions, Rene Laflamme uses his knowledge and unfailing instinct to match various audio components to create the best all-encompassing sound experience.

It starts with a pure analog transfer from the original master tape. The transfer is made to the best magnetic tape on the market today, recording the master to SM468 tape. This tape has the best Print-through protection and longest storage life.

Next, the resulting analog signal is then transferred into high-resolution DSD and DXD formats by recording it in DXD using a custom 2xHD Technologies A to D converter. All analog and digital cables that are used are state of the art cables from Siltech. The 2xHD FUSION mastering system is powered by a supercapacitor power supply, using a new technology that lowers the digital noise found in the lowest level of the spectrum. A vacuum tube NAGRA HD DAC X is used as a reference digital playback converter in order to A and B with the original analog master tape, permitting the fusion of the warmth of analog with the refinement of digital.

Finally, NativeDSD Mastering Engineer Tom Caulfield uses the “EC” DSD 512 modulators in Signalyst HQ Player Pro 4 to convert the Stereo DXD transfer to Stereo DSD 512.  Only available from NativeDSD, this edition of the album is a true listening adventure.  We invite you to download the album and enjoy it!

Available in Stereo DSD 512, DSD 256, DSD 128, DSD 64 and DXD from NativeDSD Music.  It is a DSD Exclusive, Not Available on SACD release.

TRACK 3 WARNING:  Be very careful with the playback level on first listen. The dynamics are wide, and there is a 16Hz organ tone that can cause distress to your speakers if you’re not careful.

Lightning Strike of the Week

When you go from an Analog Reel-to-Reel Master Tape to DSD formats and do it right, the result makes us discover and appreciate the state of the art of music.

I am not an enthusiast of audiophile samplers, but sometimes they can be useful. Many enthusiasts might find an interesting selection of well-crafted pieces. The challenge undertaken by the 2xHD label is to create high-resolution DSD formats from high-quality Analog Masters.

In some musical demos of the past season, I got to grasp the dynamics and naturalness of analog recordings through analog tapes listened to on high-quality Nagra machines. In other words: the true analog sound. It is clearly a luxury listening, not only for the commitment in terms of cost and maintenance of a high-end tape machine but also due to the rarity of the masters.

Now that DSD is within everyone’s reach, the invitation is to evaluate without prejudice the ultimate limit of analog. (Then there are the recordings in native DSD, but that’s another great chapter of this fascinating story).

I invite you to have a good listen to Audiophile Analogue Collection II from 2xHD. It presents a deepening sense of what is possible in today’s state of the art audio.

This album is stunning, to say the least. Reference level stuff!
Do not miss this release. It really shows what a high-end system is capableof!
