This is a live recording of Wagner’s Die Walküre (The Valkyrie) — the second opera in the Ring cycle — performed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Fabio Luisi.
Recorded at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas in May and October 2024, the cast features Lise Lindstrom as Brünnhilde, Mark Delavan as Wotan, Christopher Ventris as Siegmund, Sara Jakubiak as Sieglinde, Deniz Uzun as Fricka, and Stephen Milling as Hunding. The production was semi-staged as an opera-in-concert with 100 musicians on stage.
Released on the Delos label, this recording is part of the DSO’s complete Ring cycle project, which Luisi describes as a transformative undertaking. The booklet includes the full bilingual libretto (German/English), synopsis, and an introductory letter from Luisi reflecting on Wagner’s timeless themes of power and sacrifice.
