Traditio takes its title from the Latin word for the act of handing something over — not preservation, but active transmission. Built around that idea, this programme brings together three composers across five centuries, each proposing a different relationship with received heritage.

Luigi Boccherini occupies the heart of the album. Two of his works appear here: the Quartettino ‘La Tiranna’ G. 223, a vivid synthesis of Classical elegance and the popular musical world of Madrid, and the Quartettino G. 230, presented in its world premiere recording, a work never previously edited or recorded. Mozart’s String Quartet K. 387 ‘Spring’ and Mateo Flecha’s ensalada La Negrina — arranged for string quartet, voices and percussion by the ensemble’s cellist Arnold Rodríguez — complete a programme that Cuarteto Iberia perform with conviction and a refined sense of stylistic identity.

Recorded at the Auditorio de San Francisco in Ávila, Traditio is Cuarteto Iberia’s debut album for Eudora Records.
