Sounds from the Deep Forests (Klangen Fra de Dype Skoger) is musician Bente Illevold’s idea of expressing her own life, rooted in tradition, identity, and artistic innovation. On this recording, composers Rune Rebne, Ludvig Elblaus, and Bjørn Kruse have been challenged to channel Østerdalen’s natural beauty, musical traditions, and its inhabitants seemingly mellow and measured character traits, through new compositions for euphonium.
From the vast mountain ranges of Røros in the North to Mjøsen’s flat farmland in the South, extends a mighty mountain-driven current from Norway’s largest river, the Glommen. This is Østerdalen. J.B. Bull (1916)
