PapaJazz consists of Hungarian Jazz musicians who are dedicated to traditional jazz. On Let’s Dance, in addition to using many vintage instruments, we also tried to make the recording process as old-school as possible. To achieve this, we used only two microphones to record the entire band, plus one additional microphone for the vocals.
It was a great honor and privilege for us to have New York–based jazz star Scott Robinson join us on two tracks. In addition to playing many rare and unusual instruments, Scott is a great friend and, of course, a true virtuoso of the Hungarian folk instrument, the tárogató. You can hear him playing soprano tárogató on “My Blue Heaven” and bass tárogató on “I’ve Found a New Baby.”
